Damaged paintings revived!

Davina Paverd - expert oil painting conservator shares her secrets

· Interest Groups

At the Antique Appreciation Group Davina Paverd, an oil painting conservator, gave us a very informative talk about her work restoring oil paintings that had been damaged or degraded over the years. Her before and after photos illustrated how dirt, smoke and humidity can adversely impact our paintings over time. Davina was often asked to help correct poor workmanship from less qualified restorers. The painting below shows a partially restored painting with the layers of grime removed from the left-hand side of the face.
