About Andrew James:

I first got into drawing to have a travel sketchbook. I accidentally became obsessed with sketchbooks. 10 years on, drawing has made my life more fun and interesting. I genuinely believe that anyone can learn to paint and draw—life is better when you draw it.

My teaching is empowering and practical, and delivered with enthusiasm and humour.

Materials:

Bring whatever media you like to use!

The must-haves are:

- can-do attitude and enthusiasm
-watercolour paints and brush

-a black waterproof pen (I like to tomboy Fudenosuke)

-paper thick enough to handle plenty being thrown at it - at least 250gsm,  either loose sheets (Fabriano Artistico watercolour paper or Fabriano Unica printmaking are both good choices) or a watercolour sketchbook

-a few coloured pencils and markers in various colours - at a minimum, a light, midtone and dark from one colour family

-an opaque white (eg. gel pen or acrylic marker)
