Suitable for all levels, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn new stitches, pick up useful embroidery tips, and enjoy some time stitching in a friendly, inspiring atmosphere. Hands-On Colour: origins & theory - with Stephanie Woodman
Sunday, 15 November<br>10 am to 4 pm<br><br>Spend a day exploring the fascinating world of colour, where it comes from, how it works, and how to use it with confidence. Through hands-on mixing exercises using acrylics (a forgiving, easy medium to experiment with), you'll work through the fundamentals of colour theory and problem-solving, alongside fun facts about the origins and amazing history of colour.<br><br>Presented in a fun, intuitive style that will keep you engaged all day with hands-on learning. Make a workbook of colour notes and references to take home and build on, with knowledge that transfers directly into watercolour, oils, craft and design, whatever medium you paint in.<br><br>Suitable for anyone with an art or craft practice who wants a deeper, more confident understanding of colour.
Introduction to Botanical Illustration - with Tulia Moss
Sundays - 18 October, 1, 8, 29 November & 6 December<br>1 pm to 4 pm<br>5-Week Class<br><br>Discover the fundamental skills of botanical drawing and painting in this practical, beginner-friendly course. Work from live plant specimens to build core techniques in graphite shading and layered watercolour washes. Learn to observe with precision and translate what you see onto the page with accuracy and confidence.<br><br>Guided by an experienced tutor, develop the fundamentals of colour mixing, depth and texture that form the foundation of botanical art. For those wishing to study plants, learn to combine scientific accuracy with artistic sensitivity. <br><br>Suitable for developing artists aged 16 and up, whether you're completely new to botanical illustration or looking to refresh existing skills.<br><br>This is the first in a four-term series — Term 4 lays the groundwork in drawing and painting fundamentals, with the course deepening in 2027 to explore plant anatomy, botanical detail, and composition, culminating in a final painted work.
