  • Penelope Wilson

    Trainee Creative Arts Therapist

    Kia ora!

I’m Penelope Wilson, a trainee Creative Arts Therapist in my second year of the Master's in Creative Arts Therapies at Whitecliffe College.

I originally hail from the Waikato but have lived in Pōneke, Wellington, for over a decade and am proud to call it home.

I’m a self-taught artist, with a background in education and a lifelong love of the visual arts, language, and writing. My approach blends image-making and words with movement, voice, and nature-based practices, and I’m particularly drawn to using recycled and repurposed materials in creative ways.

This spring, I’ll be offering a four-week group at KaroriArts and Crafts Centre exploring Creative Journaling as a self-care tool during
times of change. Together, we’ll experiment with different visual and written mediums to build a creative habit and make something truly personal and meaningful.

I aim to create a welcoming, curious space where members can play, reflect, and connect with their own creative process. I believe in the
power of the arts to support wellbeing—and I’m always amazed by what unfolds when we simply begin.
