This eight week course is for anyone who has ever said “I can’t draw faces or people”.

If you want to gain confidence paintings faces and want to draw or paint portraits come along and have a go.

Starting with the basics, this class is an opportunity to try portrait drawing and painting in a fun friendly way, in whatever medium you like to use

Each session will build on the previous and will give the participants experience using the various techniques and materials in a fun experiential way

Session 1 - How to sketch out the structure of the face and what to look for in a good reference photo

Session 2 - What to look for to get a good likeness.  Getting the eyes in the right place

Session 3 - Focusing on the mouth and nose.

Session 4 - Profiles

Session 5 - Altering the angles

Session 6 - Practice using a variety of techniques 

Session 7 and 8  - Self portrait

At the end of this course:  

  • Know where to start, and what to look for in a good reference photo.
  • Have learnt about the structure of the face and what to look for to get a good likeness.
  • Have practice using a variety of techniques .
  • Gained the confidence to tackle a self portrait.

Materials you will need to bring along:  

You will need a pencil, ruler, rubber, board to support the paper, and a folder or visual diary for course notes.

If you have a preferred  medium please bring this with you. 

If you need to purchase items at Gordon Harris please tell them you are a student at KACC to get a 10% discount.
 

Note regarding payment: 
When you check out we offer two options for payment - internet banking or credit card. Our preference is internet banking as:

- We get the money the next day rather than 10 days later
- We don't pay credit card fees of approximately 2% 
- It's much quicker for the Centre Manager to administrate

On completing your order you'll be given the bank account number.

Please try to keep a 1 metre distance between each other at all times. 

Vaccinations and Masks are no longer mandatory but still highly recommended.
