Explore the exciting world of refashioning! Whether you're a beginner or have some sewing experience, this class will equip you with the essential skills to transform your wardrobe ethically and creatively. Together, we will minimize waste that typically ends up in landfills while extending the lifecycle of your garments. <br><br>The knowledge you gain in this class will empower you to bring your own design visions to life. Additionally, you will develop a solid foundation for making alterations that ensure a perfect fit and enhance the drape of your garments. Skills such as hand sewing, patchwork, and hemming will enable you to mend and revitalize your clothes with confidence.<br>

Kids Crochet - with Daisey Bingham

Mondays 4:00 to 5:15 pm<br>9 February 30 March<br><br>Suitable for children aged 10yrs+ <br><br>Learn the basics of crochet. Learn how to hold the crochet hook and the yarn. Make the basic stitches, chain stitch, single crochet, and double crochet. Learn to read a simple crochet pattern, with both US and UK stitch names. <br><br>Students will work at their own pace, moving from chain stitch to granny square and beyond. <br><br>Students are welcome to use the yarn available at the Centre, or bring their own if they have something specific in mind. A crochet hook is provided with the class fee. <br><br>

Kids Beginner Sewing: Apparel & Fashion Accessories with Kreisheia Pratap

Thursdays - 4:00 to 5:15 pm<br>12 February to 2 April <br><br>$10 Material fees included<br>For children ages 10 and up. <br><br>Gain essential skills to advance your sewing journey! Learn sewing techniques that can be applied to fashion accessories, from bags to hats. Learn machine sewing as well as some hand sewing. Take away sewing projects that are both functional and fun! Kreisheia will lend a guiding hand while allowing you creative freedom.<br>

Build self-confidence, develop skills in creative thinking, and most importantly, experiment! This course helps students find their own creative voice. Explore different media and learn while having a heap of fun. Develop basic skills and techniques and watch the magic happen!<br>

Sculpting Animals with Sarah Dean

Mondays 3:45 to 5:00<br>9 February to 30 March<br><br>Learn the process of making animal sculptures from polymer clay. Every animal sculpture begins with a wire armature, which acts like the animal's skeleton. Learn how to use reference photos to create an interesting and dynamic pose. Build the animal's muscle and flesh around the armature using polymer clay. Bring your sculptures to life with fine details, and textures. Before they are ready to paint, the polymer sculptures are baked in an oven to harden the clay. Once baked, the sculptures are ready to paint!<br><br>A materials charge of $15 is included in the class fee providing students with a block of polymer clay, a wooden board, wire, and aluminum foil.<br>The materials charge allows each student to make one medium-sized animal. If the student is a fast worker or wishes to make a larger animal, extra materials can be purchased through the KACC office for an additional $15.
