A group of 12 met at the Supreme Court on Lambton Quay for a talk about the NZ Court structure and history. We saw a video, and then toured the new Supreme Court hearing room. Then we visited the beautifully restored Old High Court building. From the entrance, we followed the original curved staircase leading to the public gallery, and saw portraits of past Justices in the hearing room. By then it was a lovely sunny day so we enjoyed a pleasant walk up to the National Library, where Watene showed us the original Treat of Waitangi document and Women's Suffrage Petition. There's a Petition database to search for ancestors and Jan was able to find the signature for one of hers. Finally we wandered through the Topp Twins’ exhibition before lunch in the busy on-site café. It was a most enjoyable outing. Apologies for the lack of photos this edition.
