Needs list:
1) a magnifying glass if helpful 2) a couple of very thin needles and some very fine pins ( If you don't have them, I will provide them) 3) a clear acrylic ruler with a grid (It is helpful to mark seam lines.) 4) fabric scissors (It deosn't need to be a proper large ones, anything you find it easy and handy to use to cut small pieces of fabric would be good enough.) 5) felt sheet (a firm, A4-size felt sheet is handy. You can find them in 2 dollar shops or in any craft sections but if you already have something to place underneath your fabric that makes it easier to create creases for seam lines just bring it.) 6) a hera marker or a thick needle for marking seam lines |
About Moonhee Han:
I always liked the look of bojagi, but it was not until 2002 while in Korea that I enrolled in a two-year course as an adult and started to learn a lot more about bojagi. My new journey with bojagi started again in Wellington, New Zealand in 2018. In that year, I curated and contributed to a bojagi exhibition. The exhibition was a huge success and interest from the local community led me to set up a bojagi studio. People from a variety of backgrounds attended the classes. I was also invited to provide lectures to quilters, embroiderers, school children and individuals who wanted to learn about it. It was a wonderful experience to share bojagi with a wider audience. And helped me to appreciate more about the beauty of taking the time to create the pieces and appreciate the legacy our mothers had left us. I am enthusiastic about sharing this beautiful traditional work with others. I hope I can meet people who are interested in learning about bojagi and these workshops would be a good start for them. |
